Dalmeny Buy 'N' Save Drug Mart
What type of service or product do you offer?

We offer pharmacy service including same-day prescription filling (weekdays), professional advice, and compliance packaging. We also offer a wide variety of products such as: over-the-counter medication; giftware; confectionary; stationery and school supplies; housewares; diapers and infant care; personal and feminine hygiene products; cleaning supplies; first aid supplies; batteries; cards; fresh-cut flowers; toys; seasonal items; and much more!

Can you provide a short history of your business?

Our doors first opened June 15, 1978 as a pharmacy and cafeteria. The business has since grown with the town and at times incorporated various services such as a hair salon and doctor’s office. Now, under the same ownership, we are proud to serve the community mainly as a pharmacy and as a little-bit-of-everything store.

Why did you choose to locate your business in Dalmeny?

Dalmeny provided a great opportunity for small business and, as the owner and pharmacist Lorne Bitner remembers, "I liked the look of the town.”

In what way(s) do you give back to the community?
Lorne personally has served the town on the Fire Department, on Town Council, and as Mayor.
As a business, we have for years supported many of the town’s sports teams, local initiatives, and the Twin Rivers Music Festival. Lorne feels very honoured by the town’s recognition of his years of service in naming a street, Bitner Place, after him.

What other information would you like to highlight to your customers and residents of Dalmeny?

We are very proud to have served the community for over 42 years. We would like to thank our customers for continuing to support us over the years and, in light of recent events, for showing concern for the safety of our staff and the community at large by graciously observing Covid-19 precautions.
